Essential Health Benefits in CT Law!
Another POCCT legislative priority became law today (Friday) when Governor Malloy signed HB 5210, now PA 18-10. The act mandates coverage of ten essential health benefits in certain health insurance contracts. This coverage is currently mandated by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This bill will continue protection for Connecticut consumers if those provisions of the ACA are changed.
Thanks to everyone who worked on this bill, particularly those who contacted the Governor to urge him to sign bill.
[Note: The bill does not put protections for people with pre-existing conditions into Connecticut law. A previous alert incorrectly indicated that this protection was part of this law.]
