New Census Data Shows Health Coverage Down Nationally

Newly released census data shows an increasing percentage of Americans without health insurance coverage, even as poverty levels decline. According to Bob Greenstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, “This backsliding almost certainly reflects — at least in part — Trump Administration policies to weaken public health coverage.”

Connecticut’s uninsured rate dipped from 5.5% in 2017 to 5.3% in 2018.

Greenstein’s full statement on the newly released data is here.
