Health Reforms Stall in the Legislature
As the legislature nears its June 5 adjournment date, it remains unclear what progress will be made on health care.
The public option and Connecticut Option proposals included in HB 7267 have apparently been blocked by insurance company opposition. Bill sponsors are working on an amended bill with more modest reforms including drug importation, reinsurance and a cost containment system.
News reports indicate that the recently announced budget deal will include a modest increase in income eligibility limits for parents in the HUSKY A/Medicaid program and will maintain the Medicare Savings Program (MSP) in its current form.
