Rally to Reverse Medicaid Cuts
Join Medicare and Medicaid participants and health care advocates to urge legislators to reverse cuts made to health care in the recently adopted budget. Flyer available here. The rally will be:
this Thursday, December 14
3:00 - 4:00 pm
Legislative Office Building, Room 2C
300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT
Unless the legislature acts:
- 113,000 people who are elderly or disabled will lose coverage now available under the Medicare Savings Program (MSP; QMB, SLMB, ALMB). Under this program, Medicaid helps people on Medicare cover costs that Medicare does not cover. The adopted budget slashed income eligibility levels for this program. Implementation of this change has been delayed until March 1, 2018.
- 13,300 parents of children on Medicaid/HUSKY A will lose Medicaid coverage. The income eligibility levels were lowered from 155% of the federal poverty level to 138% FPL. This change goes into effect January 1, 2018 - but the vast majority of affected parents will be eligible for an extension of Medicaid benefits for one year and so will not lose coverage until January 1, 2019.
